Little Tony (actually Antonio Ciacci * 9. February 1941 in Tivoli , † 27 May 2013 in Rome ) was a san-marinesischer rock 'n' roll - singer and actor .

Life

Ciacci, the son of a singer and accordionist and nephew of a guitarist, already performed as a teenager with his brothers in cafes and bars, where he was discovered by the British impresario Jack Good and brought to the island, where he was called "Little Tony and His Brothers" - his pseudonym was based on his role model Little Richard - were marketed.

Tony became a successful rock 'n' roll singer in Italy in the late 1950s and early 1960s; many of his recordings were cover versions of well-known hits. Several of his songs were used as movie songs. In 1961 Little Tony took second place at the Sanremo Festival together with Adriano Celentano and in later years he was a regular participant in the singing competition. He also managed to continue his career well into the new millennium, with regular releases until the late 1970s.

The musical success led to film contracts, which was not unusual at the time; Little Tony took on a number of leading roles from 1960, and he has appeared as a guest in other films. As the popularity waned, so did the producers' interest; after 1970 Little Tony could only be seen in a 1983 work.

In 2006 Little Tony suffered a heart attack while touring Canada, but recovered from it. In 2008 he presided over the San-Marinese jury for the preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest .

Little Tony died of cancer on May 27, 2013 in Rome.
