Simone Cristicchi (born February 5, 1977 in Rome ) is an Italian cantautore , theater actor and writer . In addition to his musical career, which he began in the early 2000s, he writes and directs plays and publishes books on a regular basis. Since 2017 he has been director (direttore) of the Teatro Stabile d'Abruzzo .

Career

Cristicchi was born in the Roman district of Tuscolano , not far from the Cinecittà studios. He was interested in drawing comics early on (he learned from Benito Jacovitti ) and music. He started his career at the age of 21, produced by Franco Migliacci . In 2003 he won the “Silver Cylinder” in Crotone for new songwriters as part of the Una casa per Rino festival dedicated to Rino Gaetano . Finally he signed a record deal with Sony BMG in 2005 and released his first single Vorrei cantare come Biagio . The song about a newcomer's difficulty finding his way in the music industry, with a swipe at Biagio Antonacci , was a notable success, especially on the radio.

For this debut, Cristicchi won a number of prizes: the Premio Musicultura , a Premio Giorgio Gaber , a Premio Carosone and a Premio Renzo Bigi Barbieri . This was followed by the single Studentessa universitaria and finally the album Fabbricante di canzoni , which was named the best debut album of the year by Musica e dischi . With La bella gente the musician entered the newcomer category at the Sanremo Festival 2006 , where he came second in his category and made it into the top eight overall. In 2007 he returned to Sanremo and won the main category with Ti regalerò una rosa . He was also awarded the Critics' Prize.

After the Sanremo victory, Cristicchi released the second album Dall'altra parte del cancello (2007), accompanied by a documentary of the same name about former Italian asylums . In 2008 he appeared on the third evening of the Sanremo Festival at the side of Frankie hi-nrg mc , in 2009 he went on tour with the vocal ensemble Coro dei Minatori di Santa Fiora and in 2010 he returned to the festival with Meno male as a participant. The third album, Grand Hotel Cristicchi, was then released . In 2013 Cristicchi again took part in the Sanremo Festival, where he presented La prima volta (che sono morto) and Mi manchi . The album Album di famiglia followed .

At the Sanremo Festival 2018 , Cristicchi performed on the fourth evening with Ermal Meta and Fabrizio Moro and their later winning song Non mi avete fatto niente . In the following year he returned to the festival himself and achieved fifth place with Abbi cura di me .
