Maria Nazionale (born July 31, 1969 in Torre Annunziata ) is an Italian singer and actress .

Life

Maria Nazionale was born in the province of Naples but lived in Milan for 15 years , where she began her musical career at the age of 16. In 1986 she appeared with the title Ragazzo solo ' at the Italian singing competition Festivalbar . In 1993 her debut album Maria Nazionale was released by EMI . As a result, she turned primarily to Neapolitan folk music , which led to her being much better known in the Campania region than in the rest of Italy. Maria Nazionale took part in the Sanremo Festival twice: in 2010 she sang a duet with theNeapolitan singer Nino D'Angelo , in 2013 she performed solo.

In addition to her singing career, Maria Nazionale also works as an actress. She appeared in various modern Italian plays, such as Lacreme Napulitane, once again alongside Nino D'Angelo. In 2008 she played the role of Maria in the film Gomorrah, directed by Matteo Garrone . The film won the European Film Prize 2008 and the Italian Film Prize David di Donatello . Nazionale was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress for a David di Donatello .
