Arisa (* 20th August 1982 in Genoa , actually Rosalba Pippa ) is an Italian pop - singer .

Life

Arisa was born in Genoa, but after a week the family moved back to Pignola in the province of Potenza , where she grew up. Her stage name Arisa is an acronym and consists of the first letters of the names of her family members: A ntonio (her father), R osalba (herself), I sabella and S abrina (her sisters) and A ssunta (her mother).

At the age of four she took part in a singing competition for the first time. Further participation in regional events followed later. In her youth, Arisa took over her musical knowledge as an autodidact mainly from recordings by well-known performers, which she studied meticulously and thus acquired singing and breathing techniques. At the age of 16 she won a singing competition for the first time with the song My All by Mariah Carey . After that Arisa appeared in numerous pubs and at popular festivals.

After graduating from high school , Arisa moved to Milan at the age of 19 to study. Three years later she returned to her parents in the south and worked there as a beautician with a focus on make-up for theater performances. In 2007 she won a scholarship for the Centro Europeo Toscolano (CET), an institute founded by Mogol to promote young musical talent. There she met the songwriter Giuseppe Anastasi and was supervised by the producers Maurizio Filardo and Giuseppe Mangiaracina. In December 2008 she took part in SanremoLab , where she won one of the two places that qualified for participation in the newcomer category of the Sanremo Festival .

In February 2009, Arisa won with the song Sincerità at the Sanremo Festival in the Newcomer category and also received the critics' award “Mia Martini” in the Newcomer category. The song immediately reached number one on the Italian charts. In 2010 she again took part in the Sanremo Festival with the Sorelle Marinetti . With Malamorenò , however, she did not make it into the top three. At the 2012 festival she reached second place with La notte , and she won the 2014 Sanremo Festival with Controvento . In 2011–2012, Arisa was also a judge on the talent show X Factor . While Arisa was a com presenter at the 2015 Sanremo Festival , she took part again in 2016 , this time with the song Guardando il cielo .

After the release of the best-of album Voce in late 2016, Arisa left her Warner label . In 2017 she could be heard on J-Ax & Fedez 's album Comunisti col Rolex and in the summer hit L'esercito del selfie by Takagi & Ketra . At the Sanremo Festival 2019 , the singer presented the song Mi sento bene and reached eighth place. She then released her new album Una nuova Rosalba in città with Sugar Music .
