Lorenzo Fragola (born April 26, 1995 in Catania ) is an Italian pop singer who became famous for winning the eighth season of the talent show X Factor .

Career

Beginnings and X Factor

Fragola grew up in Catania and attended the Galileo Galilei secondary school there . He was seen in two school theater productions of Cavalleria rusticana and Shakespeare in Love . After graduation, Fragola moved to Bologna to study at DAMS .

In 2013, Fragola first entered auditions for X Factor , but he was turned down. In 2014 he reapplied to X Factor ; this time he was accepted into the Uomini 16-24 category , which was overseen by Fedez , and finally won. His debut single The Reason Why hit the charts straight away. Then a first EP was released.

Sanremo Festival and first album

In early 2015, Fragola took part in the Sanremo Festival with the song Siamo uguali , where it came in tenth place. This was followed by the debut album entitled 1995 . The album contains both Italian and English-language songs that Fragola himself wrote with u. a. Nek and Tom Odell and produced by Fabrizio Ferraguzzo and Fausto Cogliati. The album also debuted at the top of the chart. In early 2016, Radio Italia listeners voted the album album of the year 2015.

In the summer of 2015, the single # Fuori c'è il sole was released . Another song, La nostra vita è oggi , found its way into the Italian soundtrack of the film Arlo & Spot . With the song Infinite volte Fragola appeared at the Sanremo Festival 2016 . His second album Zero Gravity was released in March .
