Valeria Rossi (born March 7, 1969 in Tripoli , Libya ) is an Italian pop singer and songwriter .

Career

Born in Libya, Rossi moved with her family to the province of Rome as a young child . She has always been interested in music, but first studied law and did various odd jobs until she got a contract as a songwriter. After she had also studied singing, she increasingly recorded her own songs. With the song Tre parole she applied for the newcomer category of the Sanremo Festival 2001 , but was not accepted.

In summer 2001 the song was released in a new version and quickly became a great radio hit; the singer won the Festivalbar competition and an Italian Music Award (both in the “Discovery of the Year” category). Tre parole was the summer hit of the year in Italy and stayed at the top of the single charts for seven weeks , reaching number two in the annual singles ranking. The song was also successful in other European countries, and after finishing fifth in the Spanish charts, Rossi also recorded a Spanish version under the title Tres palabras .

In October 2001, Rossi's debut album Ricordatevi dei fiori was released . After a few more singles, she took part in Festivalbar again in summer 2003 with the song Luna di lana and in February 2004 released the second album Osservi l'aria . In the following years Rossi disappeared again from the stage, but remained active as a songwriter. It wasn't until 2014 that she released a new album, Bimbincucina , a supplement to a cookbook for children. In 2018 she took part in the television show Ora o mai più on Rai 1 alongside Orietta Berti .
