Michele Zarrillo
Michele Zarrillo (born June 13, 1957 in Rome ) is an Italian cantautore . He participated a total of twelve times in the Sanremo Festival , where he won in 1987 in the newcomer category.
Career
In the 1970s, Zarrillo began performing with singing and guitar in the music cellars of the Roman suburbs. In 1972 he founded the band Semiramis . After that he also wrote a lot for other performers, including Ornella Vanoni and Renato Zero . In 1982 he released his first solo album Sarabanda , which went largely unnoticed. He first became known in 1987 when he won first place in the newcomer category of the Sanremo Festival with the song La notte dei pensieri ; before that, he had already tried his hand at the competition in 1981 and 1982, relatively unsuccessfully. After a 13th place in the main category of the festival in 1988 and a break, he returned to Sanremo in 1992 , where he presented Strade di Roma . The album Adesso followed .
The success came in 1994 when he started again in Sanremo : his contribution Cinque giorni landed in fifth place, then became a radio hit and helped the album Come uomo tra gli uomini to enter the charts for the first time. After a tour, Zarrillo returned in 1996 with the album L'elefante e la farfalla , which was able to follow on from the success of its predecessor (also following a renewed participation in Sanremo ). The first best of L'amore vuole amore reached second place in the album charts in 1997 and was then marketed in a Spanish edition. The tour even took the musician to Japan. In 2000 the next album, Il vincitore non c'è, was released .
A fourth place at the Sanremo Festival 2001 with L'acrobata resulted in a new edition of the last album. In 2003, after an eleventh place in Sanremo in 2002 and a live album, the album Liberosentire followed . With the tenth Sanremo participation, Zarrillo reported back in 2006 ; his contribution L'alfabeto degli amanti also gave the title to the following album. He presented the song L'ultimo film insieme at the Sanremo Festival 2008 , after which he released the Best-of Nel tempo e nell'amore . A live album emerged from the tour in 2009. The next studio album was Unici al mondo in 2011 .
In 2013, the singer suffered a heart attack and took time off, but quickly recovered. With Mani nelle mani , he entered the 2017 Sanremo Festival and made it to eleventh place in the final. The album Vivere e rinascere was then released . At the Sanremo Festival 2020 he reached 18th place with Nell'estasi o nel fango .
