Ron (singer)
Ron (born August 13, 1953 in Dorno , Province of Pavia ), real name Rosalino Cellamare , is an Italian cantauto . He made his debut at the Sanremo Festival in 1970 and took part seven more times during his career, including winning the competition in 1996 .
Career
As a child, Cellamare took singing lessons. Already at the age of 16 he took part at the side of Nada with the song Pa 'diglielo a ma' at the Sanremo Festival in 1970 , in 1971 he received more attention through the competition Un disco per l'estate , where he performed the song Il gigante e la Bambina , which dealt with child abuse . As a songwriter he was involved in the song Piazza Grande , with which Lucio Dalla performed in Sanremo in 1972. That year Ron made his debut on the RCA label with the album Il bosco degli amanti ; This was followed by Dal nostro livello (1973) and Esperienze (1975). He then appeared in a number of films, until in 1979 he worked with Francesco De Gregori and Lucio Dalla for their joint Banana Republic tour (as arranger, guitarist, pianist and occasionally singer).
In 1980 Ron's fourth album Una città per cantare was released , which hit the chart for the first time. The title track was a cover of Danny O'Keefe's song The Road . Ron also worked with Ivan Graziani and Goran Kuzminac for the mini album Qconcert . This was followed by Al centro della musica (1981), whose title song was Ron's first hit in the single charts, and Guarda chi si vede (1982); the latter was preceded by an extensive trip to America. With Tutti cuori viaggianti he presented a live album for the first time in 1983 ; it also included Occhi di ragazza , a duet with the original interpreter Gianni Morandi . The album Calypso was released in the same year , followed in 1984 by the compilation I grandi successi di Ron . The single Joe Temerario hit the charts, was the theme song for the television program Domenica In and in 1986 part of the soundtrack of the film Speriamo che sia femmina by Mario Monicelli .
After two more albums, Ron (1985) and È l'Italia che va (1986), and an unsuccessful participation in Sanremo in 1988 with Il mondo avrà una grande anima (followed by a live album of the same name), Ron changed record labels. At WEA he published Apri le braccia e poi vola in 1990 . In the same year he wrote the successful song Attenti al lupo for Lucio Dalla . Other albums were Le foglie e il vento (1992) and Angelo (1994). In 1995 the musician opened his own recording studio, Angelo Studio , in which Miguel Bosé , Anna Oxa , Mango , Gianluca Grignani and Dirotta su Cuba made recordings. At the Sanremo Festival 1996 , Ron entered the race with the singer Tosca and the song Vorrei incontrarti fra cent'anni ; the entry won the competition. The compilation of the same name, which Ron published after the victory, reached number two in the charts.
With Natale tutto l'anno , Ron also took part in the traditional Christmas concert in the Vatican in 1996, and in 1997 his next album Stelle was released . The return to Sanremo in 1998 with Un porto nel vento earned him an eighth place. After another label change to CGD , Adesso appeared . To mark Ron's 30th career anniversary, the special Una città per cantare was broadcast on Rai 2 , in which musician colleagues such as Gianni Morandi, Tosca, Lucio Dalla, Jackson Browne , Biagio Antonacci and Ornella Muti were involved. This resulted in the compilation 70-00 . In 2001 Cuori di vetro was published , in 2004 Le voci del mondo ; the benefit album Ma quando dici amore (2006) was dedicated to ALS research and contained duets with Jovanotti , Raf , Elisa , Loredana Bertè and Renato Zero as well as the 2006 Sanremo contribution L'uomo delle stelle .
In 2007 Ron released the single L'amore è una bombola di gas and, after an extensive tour, the live album Ron in concerto . After the album Quando sarò capace d'amare (2008), he participated in 2011 as a juror at the Rai casting show Star Academy (offshoot of Operación Triunfo ), which was canceled after only three episodes due to poor audience ratings and internal disagreements. With Way Out he presented a cover album in 2013, on which he sang English-language originals with Italian lyrics. At the 2014 Sanremo Festival , Ron achieved last place with Sing in the Rain , followed by the album Un abbraccio unico . In 2016 he published another benefit album for SLA research, La forza di dire sì , with contributions from Jovanotti and Francesco De Gregori, among others. In his seventh Sanremo participation in 2017 , Ron was eliminated in the semi-finals with L'ottava meraviglia .
At the Sanremo Festival 2018 , Ron presented the song Almeno pensami by Lucio Dalla and was able to achieve fourth place. He was also awarded the Critics' Prize. He then released the album Lucio! .
