Angelo D'Alessandro

Angelo D'Alessandro (born April 17, 1926 in Putignano , † February 1, 2011 in Rome ) was an Italian film director and documentary filmmaker .

Life

D'Alessandro initially studied physics , but enrolled early on at Pietro Scharoff's free theater academy , from which he graduated in 1948. He then graduated from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (CSC) and then, from 1950, worked as an assistant to Alberto Lattuada and Carlo Lizzani , for whom he also wrote some screenplays . In 1955 he brought his first own film to the cinemas, but in the following years he specialized in documentary productions, which he realized with his own team.

He made children's films and commissioned productions for television, dramatized biographies and worked on the Vatican Council as well as for series materials. From 1959 to 1970 he taught at the CSC and published reviews and film theory. In 1985 he won the “Premio Diego Fabbri” for “La serialità nel cinema e nella televisione”.
