Ballechin , rarely referred to as Ballechan , was a whiskey distillery near Ballinluig , Perth and Kinross , Scotland . Together with Auchnagie and Grandtully, it belonged to a group of rural distilleries in the area, of which Edradour is the only one still active today.

The distillery was founded in 1810 by a group of farmers. After Robert Kennedy, the last of the founders, died, it came into the possession of Robertson & Sons in 1875 . The last known owner is William Rose, who closed the distillery in 1927. The buildings of the rural distillery are still partially preserved today.

When Alfred Barnard visited the distillery as part of his whiskey trip in 1886, it had an annual production capacity of 18,000  gallons and used one coarse distillate ( wash still ) and one fine distillate ( spirit style ). For A mash was out of the water Collin's Hollow used.

To commemorate the abandoned distillery, the Edradour distillery occasionally sold bottlings under the names Ballechin Edradour or Edradour Ballechin .

In July 2014, Signatory Vintage submitted planning documents to the Perth & Kinross Council for the construction of an extension on the site of the Edradour Distillery in Pitlochry, which it already owns . Owner Andrew Symington acquired the old stones and roof tiles from the Ballechin distillery to use in the new Edradour II building.
