Tosca (* 29. August 1967 in Rome as Tiziana Tosca Donati ) is an Italian pop singer and theater actress .

Career

Tosca gained her first musical experience as a singer in a Roman bar, where she was finally discovered by Renzo Arbore . This helped her to appear on television until she finally entered the race at the 1992 Sanremo Festival in the newcomer category with the song Cosa farà Dio di me . Her self-titled debut album was then released. This was followed by the album Attrice in 1993 . She then recorded a series of duets, for example with Lucio Dalla , Riccardo Cocciante and Renato Zero , and presented the song Vorrei incontrarti fra cent'anni at the Sanremo Festival in 1996 alongside Ron . The duet won the festival.

After the Sanremo victory, Tosca released the album L'altra Tosca , which included the previous duets. After that, turned to the theater and sang the theme song of the film Jane Eyre by Franco Zeffirelli . In 1997 she returned to Sanremo with Nel respiro più grande and followed up with the album Incontri e passaggi , on which songs by u. a. Ennio Morricone , Chico Buarque or Ivano Fossati were included. For this she was awarded a Targa Tenco . In 1998 the singer was engaged in the musical Sette spose per sette fratelli (an adaptation of the film A Bride for Seven Brothers ).

Tosca then sang sacred music for the Vatican until 2001 when she presented a new musical with Salvatore Giuliano . In 2002 she appeared in the plays Wozzeck, Lulu, la morte e gli altri and Monologhi della vagina . In the following year she presented the Liedtheater Notte in bianco and played in a production of the Threepenny Opera . Her new album Sto bene al mondo was also released . After further theater and film roles and the album Romana , she returned to the Sanremo Festival in 2007 with Il terzo fuochista . In 2012 she recorded the album Trentino senza tempo with music from Trentino with the Albiano band , followed by the album Il suono della voce in 2014 and the concert recording of Appunti musicali dal mondo in 2017 .

Tosca reached sixth place at the 2020 Sanremo Festival with the song Ho amato tutto and was awarded the special prize for the best composition.
