Carla Fracci
Carla Fracci [ ˈkarla ˈfrattʃi ] (born August 20, 1936 in Milan , Italy ; † May 27, 2021 there ) was an Italian prima ballerina .
Career
Carla Fracci studied from 1946 to 1954 at the La Scala ballet school . She was initially engaged as a soloist at La Scala, from 1958 she danced there as a prima ballerina. In 1958 she appeared in the title role of the ballet Romeo and Juliet based on a choreography by John Cranko . According to critics, Fracci had a sophisticated technology with great charisma. Carla Fracci is famous to this day for her portrayal in the classically romantic ballets such as Giselle , Les Sylphides and Swan Lake . She danced with many famous partners, including Rudolf Nurejev , Vladimir Vasiliev andMikhail Baryshnikov .
Carla Fracci was a guest in many international ballet companies, for example the London Festival Ballet (1959 and 1962), the Royal Ballet London (1963), the Stuttgart Ballet (1965) and the Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm (1969). In 1967 she was a guest star at the American Ballet Theater .
Her role as Giselle with Erik Bruhn as a partner in the ballet film of the same name is well known . She played in several film and television productions in Italy. Many of her costumes were designed by Anna Anni . After her active career, she was the director of the Naples Ballet from 1990 to 1991, and the ballet director in Verona from 1995 to 1997 .
Fracci was married to film director Beppe Menegatti since 1964 , and the couple have a son.

- In 1981 she received the Silver Ribbon for Best Young Actress (Migliore Attrice Esordiente) in the film: La Storia vera della signora dalle camelie ( The Lady of the Camellias )
