content

With the short apostolic circular, Pius X refers to the spirit of disobedience and independence that has recently spread, especially among the younger priests. In the following he exhorts the bishops, who are entrusted by the Holy Spirit with guidance, to rule with a firm hand and to exercise restraint and caution when admitting young men to ordinations, so as not to admit a candidate too hastily to the holy ordinations. Especially in areas where there is no shortage of priests, there is no reason not to proceed with the necessary care and the greatest accuracy in the selection of those who would be selected for priesthood. This contributes to a multiplication of those present in the choir room, which brings no joy. In the following the Pope repeats some statements about the organization of life in the seminaries and forbids in the future that priests lend their names to organizations that are not episcopal approved.
