Ad diem illum laetissimum
The encyclical Ad diem illum laetissimum was published by Pope Pius X on February 2, 1904 , it confirms the "mystery and meaning of the Immaculate Conception of Mary" on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of dogmas.
The dogma "Immaculate Conception of Mary"
On December 8, 1854, Pope Pius IX. with the dogmatic bull Ineffabilis Deus proclaims the doctrine "which states that the Blessed Virgin Mary (mother of Jesus) in the first moment of her conception ... was preserved unscathed from any stain of original guilt".
Adoration of the Virgin Mary
A renewal of Marian devotion began in the 19th century, initiated by Pope Pius IX, with the proclaimed dogma of. Immaculate Conception (cf. the Dogmatic Constitution. Lumen Gentium on the Church, Chapter VIII: The Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God in the mystery of Christ and the Church). This dogmatic proclamation served later popes as the basis for the following Marian encyclicals:
- Pius X. Ad diem illum laetissimus 1904 (the same encyclical described)
- Pius XII. Deiparae Virginis Mariae assumptio 1946, Fulgens corona 1953 and Ad caeli reginam 1954
- Paul VI Mense Maio 1965, Christi matri rosarii 1966 and the two papal circulars Signum magnum 1967, Marialis cultus 1974
- John Paul II Redemptoris Mater 1987
