Iucunda sane is an encyclical from Pope Pius X , it dates from March 12, 1904 and is dedicated to the "1300th anniversary of the death of St. Gregory I the Great " ( Doctor of the Church and Latin Father of the Church ).

With this encyclical, Pope Pius X describes the main stages of life, his career, the pontificate and the works of Saint Gregory. It is particularly emphasized that Gregory rose from monasticism to pope, that as a prudent bishop of Rome he had enlarged the countries of the papal state and promoted internal church administration. It is also praised that he had succeeded in winning the Lombards and Anglo-Saxons to Christianity . Finally, Pius X emphasizes the liturgical reforms from which Gregorian chant later emerged, and the many hundreds of letters that would underscore the true greatness of the saint.
