Goudiry is a city in eastern Senegal . It is prefecture of the Goudiry department in the Tambacounda region .

Geographical location

Goudiry is located in the northeast of the Tambacounda region 113 kilometers northeast of the regional prefecture of Tambacounda . The dry valley of the upper Niokolo Koba passes just under five kilometers west of the city and in the east the town of Kidira on the border river Falémé to neighboring Mali is 62 kilometers away.

history

Until 2008, the Village (village) Goudiry was the seat of the Communauté rurale Goudiry (rural community) and prefecture of the Arrondissement Goudiry (district) in the Bakel department . With the creation of the Goudiry department, both the district and the rural community were dissolved and Goudiry was elevated to a commune (city). The borderline of the urban area was also described.

The 2013 census gave the city a population of 6,867.
