The departments of Senegal are, below the regions, the second-highest level of the spatial administrative division of Senegal . The following table provides an overview of the size and affiliation of the individual administrative units. The administrative structure shown has been in effect since 2011. The population figures are based on the 2013 census (VZ 2013).
The smallest region in terms of area and largest in terms of population is the Dakar region with the cities of Dakar , Pikine , Guédiawaye and Rufisque .
