Kédougou is a city in southeast Senegal . It is the capital of the Kédougou region and the Kédougou department .
Geographical location
Kédougou is the southeasternmost regional prefecture of Senegal and at the same time the furthest away from the capital Dakar at 600 km . Border crossings to Guinea-Conakry in the south are 30 km and to Mali in the east 100 km away. The city is located on the left northern bank of the Gambia River , the river bed of which here, 120 km north of its headwaters, is about 80 m wide. The eastern edge of the Niokolo-Koba National Park is 45 km away.

On the national road N 7 , which ends in Kédougou, the city is connected to the national road network. South of Kédougou there is a border crossing of supra-regional importance to Guinea-Conakry on the national road N 8 there . To the east, a paved car route extends the N7 via Saraya to the border with Mali. A bridge over the border river Falémé connects southern Senegal with the Malian national road N24 . This is paved and leads to Bamako via Kita .
An important part of the transport infrastructure is the Kédougou airport, which is close to the city .
