history

In 2008 the village of Médina Yoro Foulah, until then part of a communauté rurale of the same name, received the status of a commune (city) and also became the seat of a department. traffic

Médina Yoro Foulah has no share in the highway network in Senegal . The regional prefecture of Kolda can only be reached via dusty roads, which take detours via Pata and Fafacourou and are 97 and 79 kilometers long. In Kolda there is a connection to the N 6 . In the small town of Pata, 33 kilometers to the northwest, there is a border crossing to Gambia .

The only laterite east-west connection along the Gambian border was built in 1986 and has never been maintained. This is why it is difficult to drive even in the dry season; a bridge over a rock gorge has collapsed and elsewhere floods have destroyed the road and made it impassable.
