The Kolda region in Casamance is a region in the south of Senegal with the capital Kolda . The Senegalese license plate is "KL".
Geographical location
The Kolda region lies between the Sédhiou region in the west and the Tambacounda region in the east and between the neighboring states of Gambia in the north and Guinea-Bissau in the south. In the southeast there is a short common border with Guinea-Conakry .
The region is the headwaters of some important rivers. Both the Casamance and its right tributary Soungrougrou originate in the north near the Gambian border and strive to the west. The upper reaches of the Rio Geba runs through the south of the region before it crosses the border to Guinea-Bissau and flows into the Atlantic at the capital Bissau .
