Tambacounda (department)
The Tambacounda department is one of 45 departments that make up Senegal and one of four departments that make up the Tambacounda region . It is located in the southeast of Senegal with the capital Tambacounda .
The Tambacounda department had an area of 20,328 km² until 2008. This year, a new department with the prefecture Koumpentoum was created from the western part by outsourcing , so that the department Tambacounda has reduced to 13857 km². It is divided into arrondissements, communes and rural communities (communautés rurales) as follows:
