The Ziguinchor region , historically and traditionally referred to as "Basse (baja) Casamance ", is a region in the south of Senegal with the capital Ziguinchor . The region's license plate is "ZG".

The Ziguinchor region lies between the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the Sédhiou region in the east and between the neighboring states of Gambia in the north and Guinea-Bissau in the south.
