Wolfgang von Heusenstamm († February 21, 1594 ) was a clergyman from the von Heusenstamm family .

origin

He was born the son of Martin II von Heusenstamm († 1550) and his wife Anna von Hattstein . The father, a brother of the Archbishop of Mainz and Elector Sebastian of Heusenstamm († 1555), served as Kurmainzer bailiff of Steinheim , maximum and Hofheim .

Life

Wolfgang von Heusenstamm became cathedral capitular in Mainz and capitular at the knight monastery of St. Alban . He also acted as provost of the Mockstadt monastery . According to Rudolf von Siber, he was “gifted with excellent qualities” .

The cleric died in the spring of 1594 and was buried in Mainz Cathedral . Here he received an artistically valuable epitaph with a bas-relief made of alabaster and his kneeling portrait figure, which, however, was desecrated during the French era. The revolutionaries cut off the head of the statue and it was restored in the 19th century.

From 1566 his brother Georg von Heusenstamm held canon praisees in Würzburg and Bamberg . He died at a young age on December 6, 1574 in Würzburg and was buried in the chapter house near the cathedral . In "samples of high Teutschen Empire nobility or collections of ancient monuments, grave stones, crest, interior and original copies" of Johann Octavian Salver (Würzburg, 1775, p 472 u. 473) are shown his grave stone and his pedigree.

Johann von Heusenstamm († 1598), another brother, married in Austria. He founded the family line there, which was later retained as the only one and rose to the rank of count.
