Johann Octavian Salver

Johann Octavian Salver (born May 19, 1732 in Würzburg ; † April 23, 1788 ) was a German genealogist .

Johann Octavian Salver came from the third marriage of the engraver Johann Salver . He attended high school and later university . He studied law and history, with a particular interest in heraldry. He was unable to incorporate his talent for drawing into his studies due to a lack of financial means, but he made maps at a young age. Later he signed important coins and medals from the collection of Prince-Bishop Franz Ludwig von Erthal for the history of Würzburg and in 1773 rose to the position of princely archivist. His main work was published in 1775 with 300 copper engravings by Johann Christian and Johann Oswald Berndt .
