In the following list , all Würzburg canons up to secularization 1802 are to be compiled. The members of the cathedral chapter of the newly founded diocese from 1818 onwards see separate list (to be drawn up). Clerics in the Diocese of Würzburg often held several church offices. Canons are also known as the Bishops of Würzburg (see List of Bishops of Würzburg ). Several clergymen are also represented in the diocese of Bamberg as bishops or prince-bishops (see list of archbishops and bishops of Bamberg and list of Bamberg canons ). Many come from noble families, some of them from Franconia (see also list of Franconian knight families ).

Otto   1133   signed the circular in 1133, which Bishop Embricho of Würzburg had sent to the clergy and local residents about the reconstruction of the Würzburg Cathedral. In 1140 he donated the Hospital to St. Theodorich in Würzburg and in 1144 he sealed the handover letter which Bishop Embricho had issued to the St. Stephan monastery.
