Karl Friedrich Voit von Rieneck (* 1642 ; † 19 August  1703 ) was canon in Bamberg and provost in Würzburg.

Life

Origin and family

Karl Friedrich Voit von Rieneck came from the ancient Franconian  noble family Voit von Rieneck . Members of the family line were originally ministerials in the service of the County of Rieneck .

Career and work

Karl Friedrich was first provost in  St. Burkard before 1685 on June 18, provost at  Wuerzburg Cathedral and dean in the Diocese of Bamberg was. In Würzburg he lived in the Sternberg Curia. From March 12, 1691 he was again provost at St. Burkard Abbey. In the bishopric election in 1693 he was one of the candidates. He remained in office until his death. His successor was Johann Philipp Franz von Schönborn .

Others

From January 1680 to March 1683 he was governor in Bamberg. In 1684 Karl Friedrich acquired the castle of Gaillreuth from the Lords of Egloffstein and in 1697 he bought the Lordship of Wildenstein from the bishopric of Bamberg . On October 27, 1697, Karl Friedrich was raised to the rank of imperial count .

A decorative goblet was made by a Nuremberg glassmaker bearing the provost's name and coat of arms and was presented to him as a gift of honor on the occasion of his elevation to the rank of imperial count by Emperor Leopold I. The glass cup is now in the Mainfränkisches Museum on the Marienberg Fortress.
