coat of arms
The family already had a coat of arms before 1584: a blue shield with a yellow or gold cross over the entire shield. A steel helmet on the shield , on the left with yellow and red and on the right with blue and yellow helmet covers. A pad designed with the same colors is decorated on it. From this, two eagle wings side by side with inverted axes, each horizontally divided in the middle. Upper left and lower right yellow or gold colored and blue colored upper right and lower left.
In 1584 Bonaventura Bodeckher the Elder brought about the improvement of the coat of arms in Prague: a quartered shield, in it a blue field with a golden cross at the top right and bottom left and a gold field at the top left and bottom right with a red lion fighting to the right Tail curved above the head and held in the throat. Instead of the stab helmet an open tournament helmet , on it again the lions fighting to the right between the upper eagle wings.

- ↑ The statement that his wife was called Agathe vd Recke (daughter of Lorenz) comes from v. Groddeck: “Danzig ancestors of Field Marshal v. Hindenburg ”. In the family history vd Recke Agathe and her father Lorenz vd Recke are unknown. According to other Danzig sources, Bonaventura's wife was: Agathe, daughter of Simon Lorenz van Neck from Holland. In 1985 Friedl Haertel determined that the latter was correct. The line of ancestors vd Recke given in older ancestral lists must be deleted. - ↑ Baron Rupert von Bodeck, Canon of Fulda is identical with Friedrich Carl Maria, Provost of Würzburg. There are also false names about him on the Internet: on the obituary notice of the diocese of Würzburg, the first name of the deceased provost of the cathedral is given as "Franz Carl Maria". In fact, his name was Friedrich Carl Maria
