The University of Tallinn ( Estonian Tallinna Ülikool shortly TLU or TLÜ ) is a public university in the Estonian capital Tallinn with nearly 10,000 students and 500 academic staff.

history

The university emerged from the Tallinn Pedagogical University in 2005 and was divided into six faculties until 2008. Since then, the university has undergone extensive structural reform and is now divided into more than 20 institutes, colleges and schools.

The first rector was the writer and Japanologist Rein Raud , and Tiit Land has been the university's rector since 2011 .
