Hannelore Greve
Hannelore Greve (born November 11, 1926 in Wesel ) is a German entrepreneur and patron .
Life
In 1944 she married Helmut Greve and together with him built the construction company Helmut Greve Bau und Boden AG . Since 1969 she has been running her own furniture store in City Nord in Hamburg , which specializes in English style furniture and bears the name Hannelore Greve Furniture and Equipment.
Patronage
Together with her husband she founded the Dr. Helmut and Hannelore Greve Foundation for Science and Culture (later renamed to Hamburg Foundation for Science, Development and Culture Helmut and Hannelore Greve ). So far you have supported:
- the University of Hamburg , by donating two new wings to the main building ,
- the Academy of Sciences in Hamburg by taking over the start-up funding until 2007, and
- the Elbphilharmonie , for the construction of which they made 30 million euros available in 2005.
Hannelore Greve also donated the Hannelore Greve Literature Prize for “outstanding achievements in the field of German-language literature”.
Honors
Both Hannelore and Helmut Greve have been honorary citizens of Hamburg since 2005 . Both are also honorary senators of the University of Hamburg , Hannelore Greve received an honorary doctorate from the University of Tallinn . In 2008 she was awarded the Great Federal Cross of Merit.
Buildings
The Greves built a variety of structures. This also includes the Dudelpassage (Auf dem Dudel) in Wesel , which was built around 1983. The passage has been revitalized since the beginning of 2009.
