The Estonian Music and Drama Academy ( Estonian : Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia ) is a state music college in Tallinn , Estonia .

history

It goes back to the private Tallinn Music School founded in 1918 ; In 1923 it was renamed the Tallinna Conservatory, which was nationalized in 1935. In 1957 the State Drama School, founded in 1938, was integrated into the now Soviet educational institution as a drama faculty. In 1989 it was renamed the Tallinn Conservatory and in 1993 it was renamed the Estonian Music Academy (Eesti Muusikaakadeemia); the drama faculty, in turn, was renamed the Higher Theater School in 1995.

The academy currently has around 700 students and 260 academic employees.

Personalities

The most famous graduate is the world-famous Estonian composer Arvo Pärt .
