Tarmo Vaask

Tarmo Vaask (born April 20, 1967 in Võru ) is a musician and conductor .

Life

Tarmo Vaask studied at the Estonian Music Academy in Tallinn until 1991 and then from 1996 to 1998 at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts . From 1992 to 1994 he was a guest conductor at the Estonian National Opera and headed the Opera Studio of the Estonian Academy of Music and won 2nd place at the National Choir Conducting Competition in Tallinn. After studying in Stuttgart, he became chief conductor of the Freiburg Academic Orchestra until 2002 . During this time he was guest conductor with the SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart and the Chœurs de Radio France . From 2002 to 2007 he was the artistic director of the Philharmonie Schwäbisch Gmünd . 2002–04 choir director with conducting duties at Theater Altenburg-Gera and 2004–07 choral director with conducting duties as Kapellmeister at Theater & Orchester Heidelberg.

In 2007 he gave up his multiple engagements and became choir director and Kapellmeister at the Theater Bremen before he became choir director at the Stadttheater Bern in 2010 . Vaask has been the choir director and Kapellmeister at the State Theater in Nuremberg since 2011 . For the Heidenheim Castle Festival , Vaask prepared the Stuttgart choristers for 3 productions . Since 2015 he has been artistic director of the LGV Concert Choir Nuremberg. In the spring of 2016 Tarmo Vaask was engaged as a guest conductor with the MDR-Rundfunkchor in Leipzig.

Tarmo Vaask is married and has three children.
