Urmas Sisask
Urmas Sisask (born September 9, 1960 in Rapla ) is an Estonian composer and musician .
Life
Sisask began taking piano lessons in 1969. Until 1985 he studied composition with René Eespere at the Estonian Music Academy in Tallinn . Urmas Sisask was particularly interested in Gregorian singing and baroque music . Today he is one of the most famous contemporary composers in Estonia. Urmas Sisask is also the brother of the Estonian singer and politician Siiri Sisask (* 1968). In 2001 he was awarded the Order of the White Star 4th Class (Officer's Cross).

Urmas Sisask has an eclectic style. He draws much of his inspiration from astronomy . "Cosmic harmony" is a recurring theme for which he has developed his own scale . His composition and performance studio is located in a star tower set up in 1994 in the historic Jäneda Castle .
Much of his work consists of pieces for mixed a cappella listeners. Urmas Sisask also composes for orchestra , piano and clarinet, among others . The avowed Catholic also created numerous sacred works.
