Siiri Sisask (born September 21, 1968 in Rapla ) is an Estonian singer and politician.

Early years

Siiri Sisask has been on stage since she was very young and has appeared in many Estonian television programs and films. In 1985, she won the talent competition Kaks takti ette of Estonian television . In 1987 she graduated from Tallinn Night School .

singer

From 1987 to 1989 Siiri Sisask worked as an artist at the Estonian State Philharmonic. From 1988 to 1992 she performed in the Varieté of the Hotel Tallinn and on ferries with singing and cabaret . From 1992 to 2003 she was a freelance artist. After Estonia regained independence, she became one of the most successful rock, jazz and chanson singers in the country. Siiri Sisask composes many pieces herself. She has also appeared in numerous musicals . In 1993 she received the gold record of the radio station Kuku Raadio .

politician

In 2003 Siiri Sisask joined the Res Publica party , which she represented from 2003 to 2007 as a member of the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ). In addition, she is particularly committed to the interests of children. In 2002 she published the children's book Head ööd, maga hästi together with her son Jost Sisask . In 2001 she was awarded the UNICEF Medal of Merit.

Private life

Siiri Sisask is divorced and has one son. She is the sister of the Estonian composer Urmas Sisask (* 1960).
