Paul Wiltgen

Paul Wiltgen (born March 20, 1982 ) is a Luxembourgish modern jazz musician ( drums , composition .)

Wiltgen began playing the cello at the age of six and percussion two years later . First he underwent classical training at the Conservatory in Esch an der Alzette before various international workshops aroused his interest in jazz. From 2001 he studied at the Manhattan School of Music with John Riley , David Liebman , Samir Chatterjee and Michael Abene .

Between 2004 and 2007 he directed the New York band The Paislies . Since 1998 he has been playing in a trio with Michel Reis and Marc Demuth . He has also performed with Patrick Cornelius / Michael Janisch's TransAtlantic Collective and with Dave Binney , Miles Okazaki , Linda Oh , Ambrose Akinmusire , Kurt Rosenwinkel , Lage Lund , Mike Moreno, Will Vinson, Franz von Chossy , Tim Collins , Tyler Blanton and Cedric Hanriot on.
