Eliot Cardinaux

Eliot Cardinaux (* 1984 in Dayton , Ohio ) is an American jazz and improvisation musician ( piano ) and poet.

Cardinaux, who grew up in a family of musicians, studied jazz piano at the Manhattan School of Music in New York and contemporary improvisation and poetry at the New England Conservatory in Boston. His poems have been published in Caliban Online, Big Big Wednesday, Hollow, Bloodroot Literary Journal, and other magazines. Cardinaux performs regularly on the east coast and in Europe. He is the founder of The Bodily Press , where he published the work of other poets and artists as well as several of his own volumes of poetry, including Winter Poems . As a pianist he has worked on projects such as Odysseus Alone, Magpie, take me by the hand of darkness, Our Hearts as Thieves (with Jonas Engel ) and The Gown of Entry . His debut album under his own name, American Thicket , was released on Loyal Label in 2016 (with Mat Maneri , Thomas Morgan and Flin van Hemmen ). His solo album Sweet Beyond Witness was released in 2018. He has also recorded with musicians such as Samir Zarif , Paul Wiltgen , Asger Thomsen, Jeb Bishop , Mia Dyberg , Randy Peterson , Herb Robertson and Kresten Osgood .
