Hada Jūichi

Hada Jūichi ( Japanese 波 田 重 一 ; alternative name: Hata Shigekazu; born October 22, 1885 in Hiroshima Prefecture ; † February 3, 1961 ) was a lieutenant general in the Imperial Japanese Army .

Life

Hada Jūichi attended the Kumamoto Army Cadet Institute and the Central Cadet Institute and then began training at the Imperial Army Officer School , which he completed in November 1905. In June 1906 he was promoted to lieutenant and transferred to the 39th Infantry Regiment. After various assignments, he graduated from the Imperial Army University in November 1919 and was a staff officer in the General Staff , in the staff of the Kwantung Army , the 17th Division and in the General Inspectorate for Military Training. On August 10, 1928, he became senior staff officer in the Department of Military Administration of the Military Services Department in the Army Ministry and, after being promoted to colonel , was an instructor at the infantry school between August 1, 1930 and August 1, 1931. He was then from August 1, 1931 to January 9, 1932 commander of the 41st Infantry Regiment and then between January 9 and December 7, 1932 commander of the Tianjin Garrison , before he was from December 7, 1932 to March 15 1935 Chief of Staff of the 9th Division , the so-called "Warrior Division".

On March 15, 1935, Hada Jūichi was promoted to major general and then acted between March 15, 1935 and March 7, 1936 as the commander of the 3rd Infantry Brigade . Thereupon he was from March 7th to March 1st, 1938 to the headquarters of the 10th Division , the so-called "Iron Division", and to the 48th Division , the so-called "Sea Division". After his promotion to lieutenant general , he was first commander of the Taiwan garrison between March 1 and November 9, 1938 . After the Battle of Lake Chassan (July 15 to August 11, 1938) he was recalled from Taiwan and from November 11, 1938 to September 28, 1940, he was in command of the 19th division deployed there , the so-called "Tiger Division" however, it was relocated to Korea . He then replaced General Doihara Kenji as Commander-in-Chief of the 5th Army on September 28, 1940 , and held this position until October 15, 1941, whereupon Lieutenant General Iimura Jō was his successor. He was then seconded to the General Staff on October 15, 1941 and retired on December 2, 1941.
