The Estonian Aviation Academy (ELA) ( Estonian Eesti Lennuakadeemia , also English Estonian Aviation Academy ) is a state university at which specialists for Estonian aviation companies and institutions are trained. She is based at the airport Tartu in the village Reola the community Kambja in Tartu county .
Education
The Estonian Aviation Academy was founded on April 13, 1993 as a vocational college ( Tartu Lennukolledž , TAC) and is now divided into the four departments of air traffic control , training of professional pilots , air traffic management and aeronautical engineering . Around 60 teachers and academic staff train around 340 students there.
Cooperation partners are all Estonian civil and military aviation institutions, the country's universities and ministries. In the international area, the academy cooperates with EUROCONTROL , the University of Bremen , Lufthansa (Technical Training), SAS and Finnair, for example . The academy participates in the European Union's Erasmus program .
The Aviation Academy accounts for 60 to 90 percent of the traffic at Tartu Airport. The number of applicants exceeds the number of study places many times over.
history
The academy initially used rooms and facilities at the University of Environmental Sciences , the University and Tartu Airport. In 2011 a new building was built for the university near the airport. The European Regional Development Fund made funds available for this.
In 2006 a foundation , now the Eesti Lennuakadeemia Fond , was established which awards five scholarships to students each year .
The rectors since 2009 have been Jaan Tamm , who handed over the office to Jaanus Jakimenko in 2014.
