Heino Jürisalu

Heino Jürisalu (born August 13, 1930 in Tartu , † April 18, 1991 in Tallinn ) was an Estonian composer and music teacher.

Life

Heino Jürisalu studied composition with Heino Eller (1887–1970) at the Tallinn Conservatory , now the Estonian Academy of Music . In 1954 he finished his studies. From 1950 to 1969 he worked as a sound engineer at Eesti Raadio . From 1960 to 1970 and from 1975 to 1983 Heino Jürisalu was a consultant to the Estonian Composers' Union. From 1969 he taught composition and music theory at the Estonian Music Academy.

Heino Jürisalu directed the Ensemble Consortium . Above all, however, he became famous as a composer, and his compositions also became internationally known. The Three Estonian Dances ( Estonian Kolm eesti tantsu ) in particular received international awards in 1959 in Vienna .

In addition, Heino Jürisalu was one of the most outstanding music teachers and expert on school music in Estonia. He saw himself as a pupil of Carl Orff .
