Franz Conrad von Stadion

Franz Conrad von Stadion (born July 16, 1615 in Ensisheim ; † 1685 ) was a prelate and provost in Bamberg and Würzburg.

Life

Origin and descent

Born as the son of the married couple Johann Christoph von Stadion and Margaretha von Sickingen , Franz Conrad came from the Swabian noble family von Stadion . Numerous important personalities have emerged from this. He was the great-nephew and godfather of Franz Konrad von Stadion and Thannhausen , (Prince-Bishop of Lavant). Johann Caspar von Stadion and Johann Theobald von Stadion were his uncles.

Career and work

Even in his early years, Franz devoted himself to the clergy and became cathedral curator in Würzburg in 1653 and provost of the cathedral in Bamberg on February 15, 1653 . Appointed provost of the cathedral in Würzburg on September 23, 1675, he celebrated his jubilee as a priest. He was also provost of the Comburg knight's monastery and of St. Gangolf in Bamberg . As the Privy Councilor of the Archbishopric of Mainz and the Bishopric of Würzburg , he performed diplomatic functions as the Reichstag envoy in Regensburg in 1663 .
