Marquard Sebastian Schenk von Stauffenberg
Marquard Sebastian Schenk von Stauffenberg (* May 14, 1644 - October 9, 1693 ) was Prince-Bishop of Bamberg from 1683 to 1693 . He came from the Swabian family of the Stauffenberg taverns and was canon of Bamberg , Würzburg and Augsburg .
Live and act
Marquard Sebastian Schenk von Stauffenberg was born under Pope Innocent XI. and Emperor Leopold I elected Prince-Bishop of Bamberg in 1683 . He was also cathedral choirmaster in Bamberg, promoted the Jesuits and founded an ecclesiastical building department that received contributions from parishes and gave grants for church construction. He bought and restored Greifenstein Castle in Franconian Switzerland and built Seehof Castle . He did not live to see the commissioned expansion of the Giechburg .
His heart was buried in the church of the Franciscan monastery of St. Anton in Schottenhof, his body in Bamberg Cathedral.
