Albrecht von Wertheim
Albrecht von Wertheim († May 19, 1421 ) was Prince-Bishop of the Bamberg Monastery from 1398 until his death in 1421 .

origin
Albrecht, also known as Albert, comes from the Middle Rhine-Franconian family of the Counts of Wertheim . The eponymous place Wertheim is today the northernmost city in the state of Baden-Württemberg , directly on the border with Bavaria .
Act
At the time of the appointment of Albrecht von Wertheim as Prince-Bishop Boniface IX. Pope. Albrecht continued the reform course of his predecessor Lamprecht von Brunn , whose coadjutor he was previously. This also included the reorganization of the diocese and the establishment of new parishes. He also retained the alliance policy of his predecessor towards the neighboring rulers. Arnold von Sparneck was canon in Albrecht's time.

The coat of arms of the Prince-Bishop is usually increased . The black lion stands for Bamberg, covered with a silver sloping bar on a gold background.
His coat of arms can be found on the Altenburg , to which he made various extensions.
Tomb
Albrecht's epitaph can still be found in Bamberg Cathedral today . It is made in the soft style by a Palatinate artist . The bishop's figure with its insignia stands under a canopy, in between a Latin inscription with a few dates of life.
