Gottfried II (Würzburg)
Gottfried II († August 24, 1197 in Würzburg ) was Bishop of Würzburg in 1197 .
Gottfried was initially Würzburg Cathedral scholaster and cathedral provost. It is not known which family he came from. After Lorenz Fries he was elected by the cathedral chapter against the will of the emperor. He was elected in the summer of 1197 but died two months later.
During restoration work in the Würzburg Cathedral in the 18th century, the tomb of Gottfried III. von Hohenlohe confused with Gottfried II and incorrectly changed the inscription. For this reason, Gottfried II is wrongly ascribed to the von Hohenlohe family in places.
