Jerome of Würzburg

Hieronymus von Würzburg († March 23, 1651 in Würzburg ) was provost in the diocese of Würzburg and Bamberg .

Hieronymus von Würzburg was born the son of Johann Veit and Anna von Thüna and - quite common at the time - held several church offices. On November 6, 1604 matriculated , he studied at the University of Würzburg and along with his brother Christoph at the University of Ingolstadt Jura . On December 24, 1611 he became a subdeacon. From 1625 to 1627 he was rector of the University of Würzburg . He then became provost in Bamberg and in 1634 he was appointed provost of the cathedral in Würzburg. He was also provost of the cathedral in Bamberg (from 1642). In a document of the Cistercian women it is mentioned that Hieronymus gave Johannes Steffen, administrator in the  monastery Himmelspforten , on behalf of the abbess Anna Baunach a fiefdom in the  Zellerau  , which belonged to the Würzburg Dompropstei.
