The Sofaniama Bolong (other spelling Sofanyama Bolong ; French spelling Sofaniama Bolon ) is a left tributary of the West African Gambia River .
geography
The headwaters of the Sofaniama Bolong are located around 16 kilometers east of the city of Médina Yoro Foulah in the Senegalese region of Kolda . This region belongs to the Casamance , which lies between the states of Gambia and Guinea-Bissau . The river flows for a length of about 130 kilometers in a north-westerly direction until it flows into the Gambia River with a width of about 90 meters . There are extensive mangrove forests there .
The addition Bolong , which has many tributaries of the Gambia, means "moving water" or "tributary" in the Mandinka language .
