Kébémer is a city in northwest Senegal . It is prefecture of the Kébémer department in the Louga region .
Geographical location
Kébémer is located in the southwest of the Louga region , 154 kilometers north-east of Dakar and 72 kilometers south of Saint-Louis in the area of the desert-free Sahel zone . The Grande-Côte and the coastal dune area of Lompoul-sur-Mer are 30 kilometers away. It is 35 kilometers to the regional prefecture of Louga . The city limits form a square with a side length of 2 kilometers, which results in an urban area of 4 km².

Kébémer is on the N 2 national road . It connects the metropolis Dakar and the cities of Rufisque , Thiès , Tivaouane in the south-west with Louga , Saint-Louis , Richard Toll , Dagana , Ourossogui in the north-east and in a large arc, initially following the Grande Côte at some distance and then following the left bank of Senegal East and finally with Kidira on the Malian border.
The Dakar – Saint-Louis railway line, opened in 1885 and now closed, runs parallel to the N2 through the city.
