Ourossogui , partly under the spelling Ouro Sogui known is a town in the department of Matam the Matam region , located in the northeast of Senegal .

Geographical location

Ourossogui is located eight kilometers southwest of the regional prefecture of Matam and is therefore just as far from the left western bank of Senegal and the border with Mauritania . It is around 450 km to the capital Dakar .

Ourossogui is an important junction in Senegal's national highway network . The national roads N 3 and N 2 cross in the city . The N2 follows the left bank of the Senegal River upwards from Saint-Louis at some distance , reaches the city of Ourossogui via Ross Béthio , Richard Toll , Dagana , Ndioum and Thilogne and from here leads via Kanel , Sinthiou Bamambé-Banadji and Hamady Ounaré finally to Kidira , the town on the Falémé with the country's most important border crossing to Mali . The N3, on the other hand, connects the city of Ourossogui with the major cities of the metropolitan region of Dakar in the west, with Rufisque , Pikine , Guédiawaye and the capital Dakar , and continues from there via Thiès , Khombole , Bambey , Diourbel , Mbacké , Touba , Dahra , Linguère and Ranérou . Your destination is the regional prefecture of Matam on the banks of Senegal and the local border with Mauritania . Seven kilometers south of Ourossogui, in Ogo , the N2 branches off with the N 7 , which leads from here via Tambacounda and the Niokolo-Koba National Park to Kédougou in the southeast of the country.

The airport of this region, the airfield Matam , is located on the N3, on the southwestern outskirts of Ourossogui .
