Ross Béthio is a town in the Dagana department of the Saint-Louis region , in north-western Senegal .
Geographical location
Ross Béthio enjoys a central location in the Dagana department. The city is located on the southeastern edge of the mouth of the Senegal River delta . This fills the arc that the river describes around the location of the city at a distance of 30 to 20 kilometers from north to west. In the vicinity of the city, the alluvial plain of the delta is used intensively for agriculture, making the city the center of rice cultivation in Senegal.
Ross Béthio is located 226 kilometers northeast of Dakar , 48 kilometers northeast of the regional prefecture of Saint-Louis and 72 kilometers southwest of Dagana .

In the 19th century the village of Ross became the capital of the Kingdom of Bethio and from then on bore the name of this kingdom as a name affix.
The village of Ross Béthio was the capital of a communauté rurale and achieved the status of a commune (city) in 2008. Associated with this was the outsourcing of the urban area from the area of the rural community, which was also divided between two new main towns , the villages of Diama and Ngnith . The urban area includes the villages Raïnabé 1, Odabé Ndouty, Odabé Nawar 2, Ourioulbé Bégaye and Ngaw .
