Sinthiou Bamambé-Banadji is a town in the Kanel department of the Matam region , in northeast Senegal .

Geographical location

Sinthiou Bamambé-Banadji is located in the north of the Kanel department, 15 kilometers from the border with Mauritania and the border river Senegal . The two centers of Sinthiou Bamambé in the south and Banadji in the north are about 1000 meters apart. Both parts of the city have grown together structurally across the national road.

Sinthiou Bamambé-Banadji is located 469 kilometers east of Dakar , 35 kilometers southeast of the Matam regional prefecture and 15 kilometers south of Kanel .

history

The village of Sinthiou Bamambé was the capital of a communauté rurale and in 2008, when it merged with the neighboring village of Banadji or Banadie, it acquired the status of a commune (city). Associated with this was the outsourcing of the urban area from the area of ​​the rural community, whose main town and namesake from then on was the village of Ndendory . The urban area, measured from the Grande Mosquée, extends a certain number of kilometers in all four directions. Mathematically, this results in an urban area of ​​33.0 km². The borders include the village of Fass Diaobé . Sinthiou Bamambé was determined to be the capital of the Commune.

The national road N 2 connects Sinthiou Bamambé-Banadji with all cities of the river regions from Saint-Louis in the west to Kidira in the east of the country. The closest towns on the N2 are Kanel (15 km) in the north and Hamady Ounaré (12 km) in the east.

Via the N2, Sinthiou Bamambé-Banadji is connected to Matam Airport, 40 km away, and to the national air transport network.
