Mbacké is a city in the central west of Senegal . It is prefecture of the Mbacké department in the Diourbel region . Structurally, it has grown together with the Muslim pilgrim metropolis of Touba . Together, with almost 900,000 inhabitants, the two form the largest population concentration in the country outside the capital region of Dakar .
Geographical location
Mbacké is located in the east of the Diourbel region , 38 kilometers from the Diourbel regional prefecture . It is eight kilometers to the northeast to the center of Touba.

The national road N 3 runs through Mbacké . It connects Thiès , Khombole , Bambey and Diourbel in the west with Touba , Dahra , Linguère , Ourossogui and Matam on the border with Mauritania in the northeast.
Mbacké is connected to the international air transport network via Dakar-Blaise Diagne Airport, which is 125 km away near Thiès .
Economy and Infrastructure
The city suffers from its peripheral location to the metropolis of Touba and makes it unattractive as a business location. It is one of the departmental prefectures with the weakest economic strength and infrastructure. There are no schools, hospitals, doctors or banks appropriate to their rank.
