Paolo Bonolis (born June 14, 1961 in Rome ) is an Italian showmaster of Romanian descent.

Life

He began his career at the age of 20 with the state television station RAI , where he presented a children's and youth program . In 1982 he switched to private competitor Mediaset , where he ran the successful youth show Bim Bum Bam on Italia 1 together with Licia Colò until 1990 . In 1984, 1985 and 1986 the program won the Telegatto television prize as the best youth program. Paolo Bonolis then moderated several entertainment and quiz programs on Canale 5 . During this time he also met Luca Laurenti , with whom he maintains a close artistic collaboration that continues to this day. Together, the duo moderated numerous programs on Canale 5 and have been the figurehead of the legendary advertising campaigns of the Italian coffee producer Lavazza since the mid-1990s .

In 1994, Paolo Bonolis returned to RAI, where he conducted several prime- time entertainment programs on Rai Uno until 1996 . He then switched back to Mediaset, where he led other evening entertainment and quiz programs together with Luca Laurenti. From 1998 he hosted the Saturday evening show Ciao Darwin and achieved great success with the audience. The broadcast format was then marketed internationally and broadcast in various countries. In 2005, Paolo Bonolis returned to Mediaset again and realized Il senso della vita ( the meaning of life ), his own program, which he hosted for three years. He also took over the entertainment programs Ciao Darwin and Chi ha incastrato Peter Pan? . In between, in February 2009, Paolo Bonolis directed the Sanremo Festival for the second time .

Parallel to his television career, Paolo Bonolis is also occasionally active in the acting field. In 1996 he played a supporting role in Federico Moccia's film Classe mista 3A , which was followed in 2006 by one of the leading roles in Commediasexi by Alessandro D'Alatri. He also played the dubbing voice of the cat Snowbell in 1999 for the cartoon Stuart Little and was the dubbing actor of the 2007 documentary Our Earth - The Film .

Awards

Paolo Bonolis has received several awards throughout his professional career. Between 1984 and 2009 he was awarded the Telegatto 16 times and the Premio Regia Televisiva twelve times .

On June 2, 2000, Paolo Bonolis was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic .

Private

Paolo Bonolis is married and has five children. Two are from his first marriage to the American psychologist Diana Zoeller and three from his second marriage to Sonia Bruganelli.
